VERY rough idle.
1984 Porsche carrera coupe 3.2 Was at track and car ran great for one session then developed very rough idol....car would stall without applying throttle. Looked for vaccum leaks ...found none. Looked over idle speed control valve ...it humms ** more on this. Checked spark plugs ,coil and battery for correct voltage/resistance etc. OK. I changed DME with another and car won't start at all! ? Back to old DME and same bad symptoms. Now other then something else my question is .....HOW MUCH MOVEMENT SHOULD Idle speed piston have? I see none? Like I said it hums but no up/down movement with hoses off and car "running". I did spary with carb cleaner to see if that would free up piston. Thanks for any suggestions

Remove the ICV and see if it moves freely when you shake it by a twisting motion. While out clean it until the carb cleaner comes out clear then shoot a bit of silicon based lube, not WD40. Try to position in the middle and replace disconnected see it it idles normal. If so.
Turn off the car the reconnect and restart. if it stalls then check the OHMs of the ICV ( actually check it while it is off for cleaning ).

With the engine not running and the ICV humming the vane makes a quick 3mm move back about every second.
