1986 930 wiper relay

Where is the windshield wiper relay located. 1986 930. Switch is OK and the intermittent switch is off and the wipers still run in the off position. Car was in storage for two years.

Garage
Under the wiper motor, it is the one with the wires coming out toward the side.

Hope this helps.

There are pics in the Bentley.

Heh. Believe it or not, it's by far the easiest way. You can see if from the instrument holes in the dash if you know where it is, but that's about it, I think...

The relay on mine had a bracket on it, and it was held with a self-tapping screw through the horizontal part of the dash, directly behind/above where the radio goes. The screw comes through from the underside of the passenger footwell. It's a two-person job to put it back in (unless you line it up carefully and hold it there with something), so mine is just sitting there loose....

I'd try disconnecting the intermittent switch first or checking for a short unless you're sure it really does work fine - the relays usually fail in a "do nothing" mode from what I can tell. If it is the switch, any $5 100K Ohm panel mount switched pot will work...

I had a very similar problem with the wipers being on when they shouldn't be!!
Turned out it was a ground loop or floating ground problem energizing the wiper intermittent relay through a ground "back circuit"! Took me forever, tearing things apart and tracing voltages and grounds. Drove me crazy, but after 3 days of work I found the damned problem. Just try what I did in the link below. I would wager money that you have a floating ground problem from the years of inactivity. Grounding problems follow no rhyme or reason and can drive you insane!

Tach goes wild when blinkers ....
