How to remove spring lock AMP connector

What is the correct method to release this type of connector ?

I pull the retainer up and unplug, then replace the retainer. When plugging together I just push them togehter.

I don't understand. How do you pull the retaining clip up? If I can spread the clip's open ends or unhook them using a dental tool, then I am able to remove the connector.

Please advise.

Yes... But keep a couple fingers on the clip as you pry it off as it got a tendency to fly off and odds are that you are not going to find it back.
