Front mounted oil cooler questions

Hi everyone,
I'm going to fiberglass bumpers and a nose mounted oil cooler
on my '86 911 and I'm looking for some first hand experience.
1. Can you recommend an oil cooler with -16 fittings?
2. How did you mount the cooler? Frankly this is one that I
think I need the most help on.
3. I want to retain the air conditioning in this car, are there
issues I should be aware of?
TIA,
Chris

Chris:

Check Thom's (Widebody) home page, I think he went with a front mounted cooler. At least that is what my feable memory is telling me.

Good luck.

I did install a front cooler but I don't have A/C, so I don't know how that factors into the equation.

The only thing that I can add is that I used nerf bars under the f/g caps, they will provide a modicum of impact protection in the event of a f/r collision). The Nerf bars bolt into the stock bumper mounts, using the stock euro(non hydraulic) bumper shocks The bumper shocks were switched f/r and one pair needed to be cut down(I forget which). The front nerf bar makes an ideal mounting place for an oil cooler.

nerf bar

Bill Verburg,
in earlier message you mentioned nerf bar in context with mounting an oil cooler. Any idea where I can find such a bar?
For a 1970 911E, [the one in the Dec2010 issue of Excellence, the red Targa]
Cheers

here' a nicely done variation

mine goes into the bumper mounts and is a bit beefier but is otherwise similar, w/ the cooler hung below it
