Dumb Question - 3.2 minus Motronic?
Ok, this is a dumb question....
![]() I have a stock 1985 911 with a 3.2 engine. Obviously, this engine has an electronic engine management system. Can I change this set up to allow for an engine that does not use any electronics at all? Although probably costly, could one switch to a carburated set up and enjoy the same motoring experience (maybe without the some of the general benefits/refinements associated with an electronic management system)? Just curious. Thanks. Lawrence |

Sure.....PMO has a kit. You can buy used Webers but you may need to rebuild them and they aren't cheap. You'll likely need a cam change to take real advantage of carbs.

Cheaper to put a Bitz/MegaSquirt kit on.

I think there would be some sacrifice in cold driveability, but also a significant decrease in fuel economy. The fuel injection setup in a Carrera is one of the most reliable ever made, and is not very hard to maintain. there is some easy HP to be gained by upgrading the exhaust and chipping the ECU.
What is your motivation ? |

Tuning your existing Motronics is far easier than trying to set up carbs to run right..unless you're a glutton for punishment.
