buying fuchs--7's up front

I found a pair of original 7x16 fuchs... I want to go to 7's and 9's.
I've got a '77 911 w/ sc flares. Do I need to make sure they are from a 911. I currently have cup replica's 7.5 and 9 x 17's w/ spacers. I just want to make sure I buy the right sizes when I pursue these. help! Any tips for putting on my 911? Will I still need the spacers. Also, what's a good price for a pair of 7's... I'm slowly gonna get a set. Also, if 9's are too expensive, can I go w/ 8's out back and fill the wheel well.
Best,
Pete

7" fuchs should fit fine. Some rolling of one of the front fenders lip is often needed. Usually the left.
The P/N's have been listed many times here (but I still dont have them memorized). . .quick seach should do.

FWIW, Dave at Wheel Enhancement told me that 7" SC Fuchs with a one inch spacer fill out the rear wheel well like you had 9's on there. That's what I had on mine until I went with the Fikse 9's. As for the 8's I am unsure of the offset, but I believe you will also need a spacer to completely fill up the wheel wheels.

Thanks for the info... I talked to the owner of the 7's and it looks like they are agreed to be sold already, but if it falls through I'm first up. Hopefully I'll pull together a set so when I need new tires in a year or so, I can change back to fuchs. Too bad, cause he was in driving distance of me and the price was right.
Best,
Pete

if you are looking to purchase some orginal fuchs, try Ernies Alloys in Miami, http://www.erniesalloys.com/ I swapped out a set of c2's for my 87 targa for 7's in the front and 8's in the rear, plus a set of dunlops. They look great.

If you don't mind me asking, Bob... how were his prices?
Did you trade in your old wheels?

going to the larger size really increases the price, 1700 plus tires and the old rims. I did not price shop too much, but standard size fuchs seem to run in the 8 to 900 range on e bay. You need to be careful on the condition. I look at a few sets to fine ones that were not repainted and with limited nicks.

Give Ernie a call, he is a nice guy and he only deals in orginals. So far, no problems with mine and I just had a full high speed balance and they found nothing out of order.

he was located in St. Charles, MO. I'm in no big hurry, so I'm not too worried about it.
Best,
Pete

The 16 x 9 fuchs part # you are looking for is 911 362 119 00. It is a 15mm offset 930 turbo wheel. I Just bought 2 new ones from the porsche dealer. You can find them used but the prices are not that reasonable. To pay more than 50% the cost of new, for used parts its just to risky unless it is from a good friend. Remember,a new wheel has never been in an collision. good luck, and it will fit.

Pete,

You can put 911 16 X 7's up front or you can put 944 Turbo (part # starts with 951) 16 X 7 Fuchs up front. The 944T looks just like a 16 X 6 on the outside but has countersunk lug holes. Allows for more brake caliper clearance as the 944T has bigger brakes. Just something to consider if you were going to install bigger calipers in the future. No spacers needed for either wheel. Just bolt 'em on. You can put 944T 16 X 8 Fuchs up front too, but you have to shave or roll the fender lips.

911 16 X 8 's fill out the wheel well just like a 930 16 x 9. Pushes it right out to the end and no spacers needed, just bolt 'em on. The 9 has countersunk lug holes and the extra 1 in. width is mostly on the inside of the wheel. 8's and 9's look almost exactly the same from the outside except for the countersunk lugs.

Check out the Rennlist classifieds. Seems to be a lot of Fuchs for sale on there lately.
