Starter Trouble
I posted a fairly long post a few days back but now I have a more specific request. I need the help of a friendly Carrera owner (running prefferably
![]() I am trying to figure out why I don't have voltage on pins 2 and 14 fo the 14 pin connector on the left side of the engine compartment (below the fuel filter). These two pins go to the large lug on the starter. Mine are dead always. These same wires also go to the rear side of the 3 fuse block which is mounted on the tin piece there as well. Here is what I need - no need to unplug or jack the car or anything. Measure the voltage on either pin 2 or 14 or on the lugs which hold the fuses. Measure it with the key OFF and then again with the key in the ON (run not start) position. I have a suspision you will find 12.x volts there with the key on or off. Let me know, I would be deeply appreciative. I have 0v there all the time. If you are still game do the same with the car harness side of pin 1. This is the key activated wire for the starter. It will hopefully not have any voltage in either the OFF or ON position. I am certain it goes to 12.x when the key is clicked to the START position. Mine for some reason has 11.75v there in the ON position and then 12.x when the key is on. I feel like I am chasing my tail on this silly problem. Knowing somethign would be really comforting adn usefull. Thanks in advance. britt |
