Replacing alternator

Hi there,

trying to get to my alternator but I dont have that tool holding the fan in place so I can undo the bolt. Does anyone have any other ways of getting the fan off ?

Also what size is the bolt on the fan? I might as well get myself a decent breaker bar and socket for it.

The fan nut is 22 mm unless there is a hex recess in the center then it is 24mm nut.

Pulley Wrench.

Check used parts, verify your model/year wrench
as there are different types/sizes pulley wrenches.

And, here's the easy way to hold the wrench in place while turning the nut.

DO NOT WEDGE ANYTHING IN THE FAN BLADES TO PREVENT THE ALTERATOR FROM SPINNING.

If there is a hex recess in the middle, you are all set, use that. If not, I have used a oil filter wrench before with limited success. There is no good way without the tool.
