Before and after a PCA DE event
Hello again,
So what we did, to show how much you can really learn from these PCA DE events, is we put side by side video showing the beginning of the track event and at the end of the track event. These are two videos of two different drivers in two different cars that have never been to Watkins Glen before. It is not the best lap vs. the worst lap, just the first run group vs. the last. This was a three day Riesentoter PCA event at Watkins Glen. Thanks for watching Porsche 911 Porsche 944 (I know its not a 911 thought you might still enjoy watching) ![]()

That was cool to watch the before and after and see how much speed was gained with practice.
The 944 was way to quiet though!!

The Movement in the 911 Steering wheel is Purely Porsche 911 in a turn over a few bumps where you can totally feel what the car is "Thinking" about doing!

Very interesting comparison of before and after --- there was definitely improvement at the 3rd day. Thanks for posting. It made me wonder though --- how much of the improvement was attributed to familiarity/comfort with the course after 3 days vs skill/training?

To answer your question in my experience I would say both. When I instruct I can feel the speed increasing ( and smoothness) as the weekend progresses.

Thanks for the videos. I spent only one day driving the Glen with the PCA, It's my favorite track.
Very challenging and FAST! I noticed the 911 driver constantly moving his hands on the steering wheel. It was my understanding that this is usually not a good idea (unless in rallying) ?

I've been going to lime rock almost every couple weeks this summer and my confidence is growing with each lap as I feel more comfortable with the speed through the corners and how the car feels in transitions. but as far as skills are concerned, I think I am at the base of the mountain. I'm not approaching threshold braking by any means, nor am I working on heel and toe downshifting. I still rely on following the cones to make sure I am on line as well, so my skill at judging when to turn in has not been worked on either. the true test would be to move right away to an unfamiliar track and see how well I coped.

Very nice progression. I'd like to know more about the 911 in the, well, in the 911 video. Pretty track-ready for a virgin???
