Introduction
Hello everyone. Finally getting around to posting pics of my 1986 911. Bought it in 2006 and have been slowly modifying it for 50/50 street/track use.
Track additions are re-valved Bilsteins, strut brace, Recaro Speed seats, 1/2 cage, 6-point harnesses, and a trailer hitch. The engine was rebuilt this past winter, mostly because of oil leaks, but the 'while we're in there' got the best of me, so now it's a 3.4. In the process of adding lightness. First up is the installation of a set of TRE's FG bumpers. The next big project will be a suspension redo. The spots are water, not oil Cheers, Mike ![]() ![]() ![]()

Welcome to Pelican!
That's a great looking 911 you have. The stance is right on the money.

Nice 911 Mike. Love the idea of "adding lightness."
Is that a Fiat in the other bay?

Thanks guys. The Fiat is a '77 Spider I bought used in '83, painted in '86. It was my first car that cost more than $500. Had it ever since. I have 96,000 miles on it now and it has been completely reliable. Bone stock, easy to work on, and parts are cheap.
The rest of the garage includes a 2003 Subaru Impreza and a 2010 Honda Crosstour. Both awesome winter cars. More on the engine build later.

Hey Mike,
I'm really curious about your trailer hitch installation ... Could you post more details and pictures as that would be a great way for me to bring spare track stuff along ! Cheers ! Phil

Nice pics Dave.
The hitch was custom done by a guy in Cumberland, Ont., near Ottawa. I'll post some photos later. Phil and JJ, if you PM me some contact info, I'll check with him and put you in touch if he's OK with it.

Mike
I was just curious (I know, "Curiosity killed the cat, but...") to what was being pulled?

It started as a tear down to fix all the oil leaks, the worst from the base of #3 cylinder (broken gasket) and, as it turns out, from a pin hole in the oil cooler. Plus all the usual places. Since it was all apart, why not hot rod it a bit? I wanted an engine that would be equally good on the street or track, I needed heat, and I didn't want carbs. So... Autothority MAF Bored throttle body, Extrude Honed manifold Refurbed injectors Mahle 3.4 litre 9.8:1 P/C set Balanced stock rods ARP rod bolts Shimmed valve springs Web Cam 20/21 cams SSI's Dansk 2-in 2-out muffler Sachs aluminum Power Clutch kit Custom tuned Steve Wong chip for 93 octane New flywheel sensors, CHT sensor, O2 sensor, fuel pressure regulator and damper - only 'cause they were old Plus all the usual stuff - bearings, seals, chains, ramps, valve job, etc. The engine runs great with 243hp at the wheels and a big fat torque curve. And it hardly leaks any oil! Do everyone's lower valve covers leak?
