Installing 5 point harness in SC
I'm installing a 5 point harness and BK truss in my 81 SC. Actually just 4 point until I get new seats.
My question is can I replace the bolts in the right side of the drivers seat with eye bolts and use the quick release connections that came with belts? The bolts are under the rubber boot. I attached this picture since what I wrote doesn't sound that clear.

Jeff,
That's what I did. It has passed tech for DE already. I used the rear seat belt anchor points for the shoulder straps and the bottom shoulder belt anchor point for the outside belt. The only hole I drilled (gasp) was in the floor for the subbelt. Hope this helps ... Berardino 84 930

Sure can. I actually still have the original connector shown in your picture and a strap from the five point harness connected to the same bolt on the passenger side, so when Im riding on the street the passenger can use the stock setup.
Adding to Barattas statement, I didnt drill a hole in the floorpan for the crotch strap, Simply get a thick piece of metal ( I used t-6 aluminum measuring something like 22"L, 2" wide, 3/8" Thick) cut it to fit between your seat rails, remove your seat, and bolt it to the top spot over the seat rails, drill a hole in the center of it, and attach the belt to that. All PCA/SCCA legal. Last edited by rattlsnak; 03-23-2002 at 07:46 AM.. |
