Need help removing ignition switch

Hello all!!

I recently purchased a new ignition switch for my 911SC. I'm having trouble removing the old switch. I took off the black ring and found that there are two screws coming from behind the dash which hold the ignition switch in place.

My question is....how do I get these screws off? The screws are located diagonally from each other. The one on the bottom is reacheable with a screw driver, but the one on top is nearly impossible to get to.

Also, I was thinking maybe I need to bring down the entire dash to get to that top screw, but I can't for the life of me find how the dash is being held in place.

This is where I am stuck!!

I tried searching the tech articles on 911 ignition switch removal, but could not find anything.

I would appreciate anyone's suggestions that might have changed their ignition switch and knows what I'm talking about.

Jam,

The two screws on the face of the dash are supposed to be a security device that the heads twist off of when properly tightened. If you have regular screws in this location, someone was lazy. Someway, they will have to come out the front of the
dash. If the security screws are in place, you will have to drill them
out. The other screw is an allen screw with a lock nut that is accessed from under/behind the dash. You should be able to loosen the locknut, use an allen wrench to loosen the screw, and then remove the ignition switch. You also will have to have removed the electrical part of the switch (two screws) from under/behind the dash and insert a key in the lock and unlock the steering. Be careful not to completely remove the allen screw from its socket as it is a *&^*&$% to replace (ask me how I know). Good Luck!!

Those screws are safety shear-screws...use dremel-tool to make a groove and use ordinary big flat-headed screwdriver to screw them out. In worst case, drill them out.
