Thanks, everyone. Changes will be slow in coming, at least until I get more familiar with the car. Probably a pair of H4's, different shift knob, rear fog, etc. Simple things. I want to learn the car before I start doing things to it.

My wife and I are still uncertain about the ivory seats. As best we can tell, the original was probably dark brown throughout. Will drive it as is for a while, but might look into having the seats re-dyed back to original at some point.

A good 'painter' can do wonders. I had one touch up a couple of seat scratches and dye a steering wheel. He does not have a regular place of business; I took my car to a dealership where he was reconditioning cars for resale. It is scarey how he made the interiors look like new.

Have fun and enjoy the car! I just picked my first 911 up last Thursday and put about 400 miles on it in the past three days. They are extremely fun to drive. You won't want to drive anything else!

It's home, and the fun is just beginning....

C

Congrats - that's a great looking car

Plecostomus 10-29-2011 05:21 AM

A classic beauty. Please don't tramp her up :)

McLaren-TAG 10-29-2011 05:36 AM

Congratulations, she looks very good for her age. Must be the pilates.

Nice to see a clean & original SC here in the Northwest ;) I like seeing that clean undercarriage!

Congratulations!

dave 911 10-29-2011 07:21 AM

Very nice car!! Congrats, and welcome to the addiction :).

Definitely a worthy replacement and step up from your 240Z, which btw looks like a nice original car, at least the back fender and bumper that are showing in the picture. Be sure to take some shots of both of them together before the 240Z ships out :)

Well, if you're in Portland, the car is now farther away from you than it was before. The PO lived in Vancouver. (Oh, it's a Carrera, not an SC ;) )

On my list of things to do today, although the weather isn't going to be the best for pictures. The transporter is supposed to come pick up the Z either late tomorrow or early Monday.

Yes, the Z is a rather nice example. Better paint and less than half the miles than the Carrera. But it was time to move on.

I guess that depends on how you define "tramping her up". I will add H4s eventually, and I expect that I'll polish the paddles on the wheels someday. And I'm thinking about a Seine Gate Shifter too....

dave 911 10-29-2011 10:21 AM

Very nice Z car! But I'm thinking your gonna like the 911 more . . . .

Plecostomus 10-29-2011 10:46 AM

Keep the sugar scoops!

Yes ! ! This topic has the potential to keep this thread going :)

McLaren-TAG 10-29-2011 11:42 AM

Keep the sugar scoops really? I'm in the same boat but I won't get my 86 Carrera till this Wednesday. The lights have to be upgraded to come up to this millennium's standards, but the H4s in my opinion clean up the car and give it improved lighting what's not to like? It's certainly not violating the cars in the same way as say different bumpers or 17 inch wheels would.

Arne2 10-29-2011 11:44 AM

If "keeping" the sugar scoops can be defined as "boxing them up for safe storage on a garage shelf", then yes, I'll keep them. ;)
