I think there's a little bit of clarification necessary here. You don't need to get a 356 assembly. You would simply need the early 911 (65-67) version of this headlight assembly "guts", the new headlight trim rings are available from our host (I made them), and you can purchase new correct Hella glass from me for about half of what the typical suppliers have them for, OR go even less expensive on the glass and get the clear glass with no manufacturer stamping from the VW guys (yes it fits).

You can buy the early 911 headlight "guts" from EASY in Emoryville CA, or Parts Obsolete in McMinnville Or. My headlight rings come with all the adjusters, and new springs.

There's a few threads about doing inexpensive versions of these headlight assemblies on the Early S, and 912 forums using VW parts (if you just want to give it a go with a low inventment).

Eric is right a clarification is needed.
If you want to adapt these reflector headlamps to Euro H4 assemblies you will need the "guts" of any sealed beam assembly from a 356, early SWB 911/912 or VW ( I am not sure if early VWs used these).
