Pelican Parts consumer BEWARE!!

Ha.... thought the title would get your attention

Just wanted to share some feed back, I have had two run ins with PP customer service

1st was my very first order with them last summer

I placed an order and gave them my shipping address which is my office, I do this cause my secretary is always at office to sign for deliveries

Well the next morning I get a call from a nice women asking why my shipping address was different from billing address which I explained why and she said great and I got my order

Out of all the years I have ordered stuff online this is the first time this happened, this made me very happy that they care enough to check that info

So on to two days ago

I ordered the targa braces after hearing good reviews from a thread here
they were delivered Tue.
I installed driver side with no problem then went to passenger side, after install I preloaded the bar a half turn per instruction and heard SNAP, I looked down and saw that the screw head that is welded to the bracket snapped clean at the weld

So I came into the house and called PP and got Denise on the phone, I explained what had happened and explained that I don't need an entire new brace but just the one bracket that is reverse threaded

She was extremely nice and apologized and told me she was gonna hang up and call the manufacture, she said I may not here from her till tomorrow.

well my phone rings about 15 min later and Denise tells me that the Manu. was concerned cause this is never happened to them so they requested that I return entire brace so they can do quality control on the parts

So she immediately Emails me a prepaid Fedex return slip and said for me to ship it tomorrow and call her with tracking number then she can release new brace to me

I did all this the next day and BAM I get email that new brace is on the way

So I just wanted to say Bravo to a very well run company that doesn't seem like they are just out to take our money

And for Denise if you see this, you are an asset to Wayne as I'm sure he already knows

And also thumbs up to JM Product Design who seems to care about their product also

That is good service.

Now, where did you see the good reports on the braces? Most have reported no improvement, and I've not felt the need for any bracing.

Really?
search "targa brace" and the first 5 or so threads are nothing but good reviews

I can't review personally yet until my new brace arrives next week

maybe it will help maybe it wont but they are not expensive and from what I've heard nice upgrade

I mean how many threads have I read that say people aren't happy with targas or cabs cause of flex?.....a lot

Thanks for the info, had the same thing with a washer pump, was broken when I got it, called and a new one was shipped the same day. Stuff like this confirms that PP is the best.

I guess things have changed. Most reports were pretty neutral or to the negative side a few years ago. I've done a lot of mods to mine, suspension-brakes-engine-safety and never missed not having these. Time spent on the track would be more beneficial, IMO.

Most threads discussing Targa or cab flex are populated with those that have not driven one. A number of these cars are tracked, effectively, and I bet not one has the braces. Most on this forum do not have the skills to effectively squeak better times out of a Coupe vs a Targa. I believe Mark Donohue said once that he preferred the Targa's flex on the track-he used it to his advantage. He did have the skills.

There are a lot of threads about how bad a 915 trans is, too.

Get the braces, I bet you will notice a difference! It is not as night and day as running without a rear anti sway bar but it is close.

I think that the people who are reporting that they feel no difference have other issues with thier cars set up and suspension.

I think if everything else is set up right then you will be able to notice the increased tightness those bars add.

Ed,...you know Ruby deserves them, stop being a tightwad and get her something nice, you have been together for a while now and must have an anniversary coming up...

Ha, for what I've spent on her, I could literally have a nice, non-abused 996 GT3 or 993TT. Trust me, I've not been stingy over the years. I guess I'm starting to get older and wiser!

Or, it could be the 993 needs "improvement" now-my new project.

Denise is a loose cannon. Check out this note and YOU be the judge of how she treats customers. I was appalled.

Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. We appreciate your
taking the time to share them with us. We look forward to providing you
with excellent service on all of your future ordering needs.

With respect to where "Pelican" came from ... this type of sea bird is
very common around our local coastal areas, here in California and a
chance fly-by sparked the idea.

Thank you for your loyalty and support.

Cordially,

Denise

Nice work, Denise!

That's it. If I can't get cheated by these guys, I am taking my business elsewhere. I have had one too many orders ship on time and complete to put up with this any more.

In all my years of dealing with Pelican I have NEVER had a bad experience. The type of service you receive is just second to none it is so nice to deal with them. Competitive prices, great selection, a fantastic forum and order tracking that others should use why buy anywhere else ? I wish more businesses would emulate Wayne's business model.

My first order was pretty bad, but all my subsequent orders (even ones placed within 48 hours of the first order....) went by super smooth and nice.

as far as the targa braces go I'm not skilled enough to notice a difference in track times. however on my turbo there is a noticeable difference in the amount of flex and how it behaves going into a corner. I noticed about the same amount if change as when i installed a 3 point strut brace in the front.
