Gulf Blue GT3 RS
In another thread, I talked about my boss finally approving the purchase of a new 911. Specifically a RS. She say the Grey/Red one at the factory Porsche display at Rennsport. After working this for a year - finally getting the okay - guess what Porsche does not build anymore. My problem is I can't buy anything until April or May of 2012. So a 6 month build time on a RS was perfect as long as I could order it in Nov or Dec of this year. WTF?
Anyway here is the one I was going to order (except for the flag decals - too busy on this one). Can't get this one - not in approved timeline. This one is way too expensive $183K anyway - my budget is a little lower than that. So which car do I order. Porsche is building everything except the GT cars until Oct of 12. 991 Carrera S? Turbo? Carrera 4 GTS? 2011 GT3 RS in Gulf Blue with Orange wheels: ![]() |

There are plenty of "used" GT3 RS's out there available now.

Why buy something which you feel you need to settle for? Wait the extra year and get what you really want. A year will pass pretty quickly. Why suffer in a used RS?
That blue is GORGEOUS!!

That Gulf Blue car is gorgeous, graphics and all. Since the graphics are factory I would be okay with them. Talk about a cop-magnet though. You'd have to drive it like a little old lady. The fart-canned Honda kids would race up from behind you, at full fart-can 'blatt,' just to snap a photo with their iPhones.

My question would be, why did you start a new thread to ask exactly the same question?

That car is not Gulf Blue. Porsche will not paint Gulf Blue anymore.

I was told that it was "sample to match" Gulf Blue. The dealer told me that Porsche would do Gulf Blue and it didn't matter as to which type of 911. I think that this is just a bad pic.
As far as what to do with the car - 80% street/20% track (if that depending on the car). One of the bad things about the RS are the seats. The "sport buckets" are a ***** for any kind of lengthy drive. As to wait for what I want - the RS - 3 more years - I'm not sure. Even the GT3 is 3 years off. The problem with used is the loan rates. Porsche gives better deals on finance - used cars, the loan rates suck. I would have to find a great used with the right options. Not anywhere near the $183K for the Gulf Blue or the $185K Speed Yellow one at Fairfield Porsche. I was informed that the new Carrera S was just as fast as the GT3 at Nurburgring and 14 seconds faster than the 997 Carrera S. So thats quite an accomplishment based on the new chassis. From what I understand it is a totally different car. I don't know - the pondering continues. Thanks for the input everyone |

For an extra few grand, you should hack those bumpers up, put a duck tail on it and do a cute RS tribute.

My mistake. Not sure about the Rivera Blue scheme. Still will look at some used ones.
Anyone here with a GT3 RS? How is the in town driving? Thanks |

You work for a company that approves the purchase of a $175k car.
You're obviously a highly compensated executive. You can't make your own executive decision about what kind/color of car to buy? Sign me up. Last edited by jlynch1960; 10-27-2011 at 05:53 AM.. |
