Heat Exchanger Question ????"HELP" ...

Hi.... I am a greenhorn working on an 83 SC. I just got a set of "DANSK" oem style stainless heat exchangers. They are nice and shiny but I notice that the tin does not seal very good around the exhaust pipes, and in other areas as well. I cannot compare with my old ones ,, they were rusted so bad...
It seems to me if water gets in there it will create steam and blow it onto the car??? or am I out in left field again???
Could one of you experienced vetrans give me the straight goods here, dont be scared to tell me if I bought more garbage........Why would I stop learning the hard way now.
Thanks Wayne

I'm pretty sure by the way you decribed them, that's how they are suppose to be. That's how my factory HE's are, and they are in pretty good shape.
