swapping tachs

I am unsure about the servicability of my tach. Could be the tach or my wiring. I am thinking of swapping my tach with a car that I know the tach works. Could my 77 tach be swapped into a turbo of later vintage? I know they have different redlines etc but would it work?? What year cars are compatible with a 77?

Shawn

Thumbs up

in a word yes

just dont try to use a really early tach in a later car........... the signal given to the tach from the ignition is different..............soot I dont remember the details but .5 volt squarewave rings some sort of bell.

on thelater cars the signal to the tach has bee modernized, the tach will work........... just need to have the redlionemoved

I swapped in a '76 tach to my '75 with no problems. Just had to get the wires right.
