Broken Engine Mount...F'n Previous Owners

I was installing my engine today. It took a while to get all the mounting bolts lined up. But I finally did. I start torquing the bolts and...

Upon closer inspection, it appears that it had somehow broken previously, and someone decided to weld it back together. Thank god i found out this way and not while driving.

So project on hold....again.

when the bolt is removed, sometimes it's solidly rusted in the mount threads and there's no way to grab the end of the mount to prevent it from twisting.

Matt,

I had the same issue with mine when i dropped the engine last month...
It seems the mount was previously repaired by "Hank" the crosseyed welder, and it was off by almost .250 top to bottom.
I had to cut it,remeasure and reweld it properly.Easy fix, just take the right measurements, tack it,remeasure and weld it properly !

Cheers !
Phil

Make certain you place some anti-sieze on it so to lessen the chance of it twisitng off the next time you need to service it.

I could weld that for you, but I am up by Kingston. Let me know if you are hard up.

Matt

Don't despair... You'll get there.

One of my PO transform the 12mm receiver for the transmission cross mount to a 14mm. Took me a few minutes to figure out why the bolt (now a 14) did not fit through my new transmission mount... He had drilled out his mount so that the 14mm bolt with fit through the mount into the hole that he tap at 14mm after he cross thread the original 12mm receiver

Another spin-off project for the winter.

Unless you got a cab, you should be able to get one relatively cheap. Check with Tom1394racing

Thanks for the offer. I have some guys at work that could probably weld it for me, but I don't think they would get the positioning very good.

I think I'm just going to find a used one. There are a few on the board and one I found on ebay. So I should be good.

Thanks.
