76 911 autozone installed battery

i had a battery installed in my 76 911s earlier today, the guy who installed the battery hooked the posotive to the negative ,negative to posotive?????? now the car will not start ,also there is a red light with a "g" on it that stays on with the ignition key off the only way the light will go out is if you unhook battery

He probably owes you no less than a new alternator.

That's crazy.. I'd throw a fit, call autozone corporate maybe and see if they'll pay to have a Porsche specific shop look into it.

This from a former autozoner......go to the az store, and on the door should be the number for the regional manager, district manager and store manager...all corporate numbers, but if you bypass the chain of command, call the regional manager, state your problem an they will refund or replace your stuff, along with probably giving you some sort of gift card....the better the complaint the more **** you get back, especially if it cost you miss time at work etc, if not get the ceo's number,as he supposedly has an open door policy, the thing they hate most is negative publicity and being talked about.

I would check the connectors at the alternator and starter to see if there are fried. If you don't see anything on the surface, it may be fried internally.

You can keep checking parts or button it up send to a competent wrench and dump the repair bill in AZ's lap.....

Stereo got zapped when the polarity was reversed.....as did the CD box and alternator...those are the typical components that die. Could be the battery as well.

At least AZ will warranty the battery......

I would start with the basics. Are all of your fuses still good? Check the ones in the front as well as the ones in the engine bay.

Yes, they do but first find what's wrong before spending good money.
