MFI Speed Switch / Stop Solenoid
I know that this has been discussed in the past, however this may be a new or different issue with the MFI speed switch/stop solenoid. A few weeks ago I developed some slight backfireing when returning to idle after 3000/4000rpm. After checkimg things out I came to the conclusion that my TB's are leaking air.
I then noticed that my rpms would drop way down between shifts and when coming to a stop. It would return to a steady 950 rpm, but if burping the throttle it would drop way down to around 500 then return to 950. At this time I would hear an loud click from inside the car. This turned out to be my stop solenoid clicking when returning to idle. The speed switch would operated and hunt around 1300/1500 but the solenoid would click very loud. I disconnected the stop solenoid and drove for a few weeks and backfireing and idle problems stoped. Yesterday I re-connected the solenoid and adjusted the switch and it did the same, except now the car hesitated allot off idle under load like at stop signs. The car would pop off idle, hesitate ,then pull away smoothly after 2500rpm. I'm wondering if the speed switch or stop solenoid is shorting out, causing a lean condition by not releasing the rack? |
