How to quiet a muffler?

I'm currently running a 3.4 liter engine with 964 cams and a custom chip. SSIs and an M&K Gen 5 2 in/ 1 out. I'm looking to quiet it down a bit.

I guess the options are:
- Different muffler (have tried B&B, Dansk and stock, and I love M&K)
- Asking ben to fab something up custom (distinct possibility)
- Insert in the muffler tip (just saw a thread with possibilities from car chemistry and some others

Any advice? will I harm the engine at all by restricting flow? I know cats would do the same thing, but I'm curious. I'd prefer to quiet it down with a minimum of power loss as well, which might be stating the obvious.

Thanks.

Weld a disc type Supertrapp on the end. More discs, louder and freer flow.

IMO you should go with a new muffler - something engineered and not modified as there are performance issues. Sorry I don't have a specific recommendation but I am sure this group will give you some good options

I know it's been said by others before but my stock 1 in 1 out is fairly quiet.

My Lime Rock set up.... car sounds like a frikkin vacuum cleaner... the fan noise is louder than the exhaust.. The exhaust is a Gen 1 M&K RSR... for Lime Rock I cap one pipe, and use an elbow+baffle on the other....

I bet if you stuck a baffle in each pipe it would be fine

If you want to change the muffler I'd go with a Flowmaster 80. You won't lose any power and it's relatively quiet. We registered 92db on our 3.4 race motor.
I've played with the car chemistry and supertrapps and could feel the power loss with both.
If you want to stick with the M&K you might as Ben to make you something like the baffles below. I wrapped the outside of the baffle with s/s wool. Depending on how much s/s wool you use will have an effect on how loud it is. I dynoed one of our motors with and without the baffles. I was losing 5 h.p. with the baffles. is.
