Fuel filter mount ?
I enclosed a couple of pictures on my present fuel filter setup on my 73 911T with CIS. Found it hanging down with no support of any kind. I now have it hanging horizontal with a tie wrap supporting it's weight.
Doe anyone have a picture or description on how it should be mounted properly, Thank you, Stan ![]() ![]() |

Here is one picture I found. It's not an easy issue since the original filter is no longer available. Here is a link for one fix.
Updating A 1973.5 911T Fuel Filter Originaly, the fuel line from the accumulator to the filter was shorter and a hose clamp held it to the bracket shown with the arrow. ![]() ![]()

Thank you, Ed
It looks like I need to take the fuel filter to a store and get the correct clamp to mount and cut the hose to make up the differents. When I tried to alinged the filter to that mount the hose would bend and shut off the fuel supply. I think the original supply hose from the accummultor to the fuel filter was made of metal with the bend and fittings on each end. Last edited by Stan Gillis; 12-01-2011 at 03:58 AM.. |

The larger filter is NLA. I made a bracket and attached it to the shock tower bolt. You'll have to extend the hoses.

Stan, when I had my '74, which is pretty much identical to the '73.5, I ran into a problem with not being able to source an original filter. Here is a link to an article that shows how it's supposed to mount and my solution to the NLA filter. Hope it helps. -John

Stan,
Since the original filter is nla, you could order the replacement, Pelican Parts - Product Information: 911-110-176-02-M14 and see about a fuel line replacement. Then look into mounting it depending on what is needed, like HarryD used in the link I posted earlier. The second is Luftwaffle's method. It looks a lot simpler, but some don't like the idea of using Fram products. Personal choice, I have no opinion on the Fram filter. When I had the 3.2 in my 1973, I went a little overboard. I took some stainless sheet metal and fabricated a panel using the original mounting points. I bought fuel line and metric fittings from BAT BAT - MOCAL Oil Control Systems and made my own lines. Many choices. That is one of the issues with old cars and NLA parts. ![]()

Here are a couple of photos of my '74 fuel filter. It looks like the bracket is there (in your car) but the fuel filter is just a few inches to the right. Maybe shortening the fuel line that goes to the fuel filter will get your filter in the correct position.
![]() ![]() My car has the fuel filter update kit and uses Bosch 0 450 905 003 which is slightly different that the one that Ed Sully posted a link to. Pelican sells both. Vern Last edited by Tidybuoy; 11-30-2011 at 07:53 PM.. |
