RS America carpet kit question
I bought an appbiz RS america carpet kit for my 91 964 turbo. Does anyone know if there are instructions or a diagram telling the location of the pieces? I emailed appbiz, but was wondering if anyone else had this experience. There are about 30 pieces of carpet and nothing is labeled.

They've got a nice installation guide -- I suspect they'll respond to your email.

I spoke with appbiz today. They do not have any kind of instructions or diagram layout for the 964 cars. That is not what I expected from them at all. He said that some guys on rennlist had installed them and had posted their installs. I guess I will have to try and find something

Yes, there are some very detailed and nicely done postings on carpet installs. Shouldn't have to do a search, but it should yield good results...just the same.
He ought to at least make a list of such postings and provide the links with inquiry.

I have a buddy doing the install, but he felt it was odd that there was not at least a diagram to save someone the time of figuring out basic locations

Don't know if this helps but when I installed my Appbiz kit for '80SC, I numbered the original pieces and marked the position before removing. That way I was able to get an approximate place for the new piece.
Match up the pieces and use old carpet as template. I had a white marking pen for tracing and left a little extra for insurance when trimming. Use a good pair of sharp scissors for trimming. When gluing, make sure you had good lighting, plenty of fresh air and keep working it so there aren't any wrinkles when finished. The hardest part was installing the map pockets where the vinyl trim gets glued under the door seal(which I had already installed and had to pull away from channel) and then form the pocket by gluing. Good luck! Once done, you can step back with a cold one and admire the finished product. |
