New Rattle on 911 sc

My new old 911 has developed a rattling noise that sounds like its comming from my gearbox. The sound is most noticeable while idling in neutral foot off the clutch

Sound disappears when I put the clutch in. Any thoughts?

The car runs and shifts fine without grinding or hesitation.

I do notice on occasion, that if I need to maneuver in a parking lot, drive forward or back. The car sounds like something is not completely disengaged. ( ex. Accelarate in gear, then clutch down and coast while still in gear)

I don't know if the two issues are related, but I am sure someone reading this knows what I am talking bout.

Any info would help

Part itself is cheap $160-$190 depending on your year, but you also would want to swap the Guide tube and Guide tube Seal $100. But requires and engine/trans drop

The 915 Trans has the clutch chatter/ratlle so that is normal. It is most apparent when windows are up, The T/O bearing actually runs against the pressure plate which is where the noise is coming from. A new one will help but over time it will start to rattle.

No need to change it right away. Just make sure on the next Clutch Job the wrench replaces the T/O Bearing, Guide tube with seal and New Fork. Will not hurt to replace the pilot bearing as well.

Post an audio clip and we can tell better.
