Noise when clutch is depressed

Hi,
I need help diagnosing a new issue with my porsche.

here are the symptoms (doctor):

In 1st (I haven't tried any other gears) and the car is moving.
clutch pedal is depressed and the car coasting at around 5 to 15 mph

I can hear a whining noise coming from the back. It used to be a low level rubbing noise until today.
The rubbing and whine increases as speed increases (coasting down a hill)

The car has 90k miles. It's an 87.

Ooops, it may be your wheel bearings, does it make the noise only during clutch engagement in gear or have you tried coasting down a hill to see if the sound is still there?

Oddly, I cant hear the noise while the car is moving an in gear.
I'm a little worried it's clutch related.

Throw out bearing.

T/O and or Guide Tube may be the culprit, It may have dried out and in need of lube but that requires an engine drop to lube it properly. Others have tried to do it on the car but you have to do it blind.

I bet it is not the clutch. Low level rubbing does not sound clutch related. It is spinning at 900 rpm at idle.

When in gear and moving the slop is taken up by torque forcing the bearing parts together. I would think your CV joints may be another possible issue - but never heard mine whine. Mostly low level growling.

Can you just jack the rear up and spin the wheel? That might give you a hint of the source.

This says to me not the T/O bearing.

The lady might not appreciate anymore time spend in the garage this weekend!

I'll check for loose cv.
One of the rotors is a little scored from late brake pad change. Maybe that's the problem too.

Drop the half shafts and if you still have the noise its the clutch.
Remember there is a rubber center on this clutch.
If you dont have the noise its the trailing arm bearing possibly.

On an 87? I think they did away with that on the SC. Also, the trans is a G50. No way on rubber center.

It is a g50 on an 87.

I'm taking her out tomorrow. I'll let you know how she goes.
