First Time at Gingerman....WOW

Well, after all the work this winter, I finally got to take my car to Gingerman. First time for me ever to be on a track. Great weather had my buddy (the instructor) teaching me and had a great time.
Started with laptimes of 2.10 got them down to 1.47...I am pretty proud of that.... Well last lap caught a wheel on turn two, spun out and got black flagged. No damage....but time to go home...

Just had to share this, had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back..

Porsche Crest G-man

The great thing about that track is you can spin out with almost no consequences, e.g. not like Lime Rock where there are concrete walls bearing hundreds of paint marks. I've spun there a BUNCH of times- don't worry about it.

Nice work trimming the time, nothing like that feeling of improvement. How did you time yourself, and what did the organizers of the event have to say about it? Timing at DE is generally frowned upon because it can invalidate insurance coverge for EVERYONE, but that's not to say it doesn't go on.

Here are some comparison times FYI from last year's club race.

John,

Thanks for the info!! I have a hotlap timer in the car, someone had a transmitter set up so it worked well for me. I seem to do better when my friend was not in the car with me, won't tell him that though..

Looking forward to going up for open track this week if the weather holds here..

Regards,

Todd

Todd,

How much time do you get on the track at these evening sessions? 1-2 hours?

I'm really hoping to break the Midwest Council vintage lap record there this year, I've beaten the posted record, but think that it's old... I need to bring my 1:36 down to at least 1:34-35 to hit it...practice, practice, practice!
