Unhappy Broken Fog Light lens

While cleaning the car today, I noticed my driver side fog light lens is broken.
The light still works. Is this the correct part number
Pelican Parts - Product Information: 911-631-942-01-M100
Is there some generic aftermarket replacement part that costs less?

BTDT :-(

Unfortunately no. I replaced two at one time so illumination was even.

recently replaced mine too -- any thoughts on protection to keep these from breaking again (or becoming opaque/frosty)?

Darrin, that was my next question. Has anyone used Xpel or can suggest maybe some kind of stone guard or cover?
Found this on the Xpel website...$54 XPEL Head Light Protection

Just replaced mine as a pair so they'd look the same and illuminate the same.

....I was happy with the upgrade even though I didn't want to have to do it..

You would think there would be a nice repro for these.
I called around to some pcar dismantlers here and there and the prices they wanted for used were comparable to a new pair.

I went with new ambers. Contrasts well against my red.

My passenger side lens is cracked, not broken. Would like to replace, but about $90 per, if I remember correctly. Pricey.

They don't list the thickness of that Xpel film. You want to buy the thick lens film, like Pelican sells. I've had it on my headlights for a few years and probably 50,000 miles now, and they still look like new. (too bad I didn't put film on the rest of my front end!)

The XPEL film is what you want. I would get the 20mil film.

You can buy a square of it and squeege or hand apply dry. Then trim with xacto or olfa knife along edges.

Just recently installed yellow tinted film on a set of 3.2 fogs.

+1 on the film much cleaner application, when I had my 944s, I placed an aftermarket grill on it and it helped from taking on the road rocks.

I see that the Pelican film is 80 mil and the Xpel is 30 mil...big difference in thickness.

Any nearby wrecking yard? I have found that the Porsche fog light is the same as BMW, which are a dime a dozen. Our local wrecking yard charges $8 for a fog light.

Wow - $90 is crazy expensive.

One of the lenses on my '81 SC is cracked, and I priced out the "Bosch" glass (not Porsche OEM, I guess?) at less than $10. Not sure it matters, as AFAIK, didn't Bosch make the fog lights anyway? Plus if they are just gonna get broken...

I guess they must have changed the spec for the Carreras?

Mine are all mangled from when I picked up the car. I thought long and hard about replacing them and considering their position. I removed them temporarily. Once my wife is no longer interested in driving it, I'll consider replacing them

I purchased the Bosch glass from Pelican for my SC and they looked identical to what was on there. ...I didn't realize the Carrera's are 90 beans! Wow...
