LSD transaxle cooler pump gear????
It seems that my LSD transaxle oil pump gear for the cooler in my 86' 944T is missing a couple teeth . THIS IS A $600+ GEAR FROM PORSCHE . I called all the recyclers , no good .
I could run without the gear on the street, but on the track , has anyone had any problems with this alloy gear ??? I was thinking of converting to a electric pump set up , did anyone try this ? Thanks Last edited by Mac; 04-04-2002 at 08:26 PM.. |

Huh?
What tranny is that? I always believed that stock 915/930 tranny's didn't have oil-coolers...

Hi,
I think the electric pump wouldn't put out the pressure that a gear pump would. Dean |

I've got an electric pump on mine. Makes a significant difference in tranny temps (I've got a temp gauge for the transaxle). The catch is, you only get high tranny temps during track driving. Even bursts of very aggressive street driving (except maybe long stretches on the autobahn) bring things up much above 180F. On the track, without the pump, I've seen 260F. The pump, with an external cooler in my case (951 oil cooler in driver's side rear fender) cbrings it right down.
