Webber screens

Anybody know where these screens and associated parts can be purchased? Do they fit over stock velocity stacks?

The screen is one half of a teaball. The teaballs can be purchased from Peet's coffee (website) or on ebay.

Thanks Al.

That's pretty ingenious. Is the whole set up custom made? If it is do you know what was used to creat the parts? Is there oiled foam behind the honeycomb screen? Is there something similar on the market that can be purchased?

Thanks again.

sreens for stacks

Hi DR, someone started a thread yesterday looking for individual screens, and provided 2 websites that custom make them for hot rods and motorcycles. Look back a few pages and i will try to locate for you as well.
I would like to put some on my pmo's.

That pic is off cnielsen's t/r build thread. I think he mentions somewhere on the thread where he got the filters, as well as the tea strainers.

Be careful, these rob higher RPM horsepower and generalized poor drivability. It's amazing how much airflow they block! The little individual round filters are fine but save the tea strainers for cool engine shots only!!!

tea time

Here is one thing I've noticed, while playing in the garage. The teaballs are a very fine mesh. Compare the teaball to a M'cycle filter screen that I have on my 3.6, which is a much coarser mesh, with a flat screen mated to its base. It is meant to be loaded with foam. I would expect the M'cycle filters to be less restrictive than the teaballs and I didn't notice much difference in tune on the test stand, with the filters on or off........but.........that is not on the road or on a dyno............I.E. fully loaded at high rpms.

check it out. M'cycle screen on the left, Teaball on the right.
Don't ask me where I bought the M'cycle filters. They have been on my shelf for years...I don't remember. The teaball came from Peet's coffee website.

I love the look of these, but not at the expense of HP and a good running engine.
Does anybody have dyno results by any chance?

regards,
al

Maybe so... My '67 ran great before I put them on, then ran like sh-1-t afterwards. At first I could figure out what was wrong, then I removed the tea strainers and voila!!!

I've heard theis from other engine builders and racers as well.

Chris,
Did you end up using the filters shown in the pic above, without the tea strainer?

Yes, I think they came from Renline or something like that. Different sizes for Weber vs PMO but I can't recall which is which. They looked and worked great!

Same effect if one were to reposition all the individual wires next to each other w/o spacing. What's left is the area for airflow through the velocity stack.

Let's not mention the lack of adequate air filtration.

But they sure look racey.

I've been making these on a limited volume basis which clip on and have another version with tabs and screws that safety wire for security. I'm thinking of getting a bit more serious about quantity so I can reduce my costs.

Awesome guys, Thanks for all the responses. Great info. 1quickS I am really liking your set up.

Currently I have a set of K&N Water shields but I think it's time for a change. Keep the info coming.
