I just want to make sure I am setting my points (1977 911S) to the proper gap. I have read on several posts here that the gap for a Bosch distributor should be 0.012 however, my owners manual states 0.014. Which is correct?

You're much better off getting a dwell meter and setting them according to your measured results. Put a 0.013 gauge in there to set them initially and adjust to the correct dwell angle for your car. (I don't know offhand what that value is)

.35mm (.014") is the point gap for initial setting. Once started, set the dwell to 38 +/- 3 degrees. I always suggest that 35 - 39 degrees is the optimal range.
When you connect a dwell meter, be very careful to not ground out the connection on the side of the distributor where the wire attaches. If you ground that connection it will probably destroy your CD unit.
