Help - my 3.6 conversion harness pinout is wrong
To all my 3.6 conversion bretheren,
I need to verify the pinout on the conversion harness that connects to the 964 DME harness. Dr. Steve and I were not able to connect prior to him leaving for VIR this weekend and won't be back till Monday! I am desparate to get "Gretchen" running this weekend. Dr. Steve said that some early conversion harnesses had incorrect pinouts leaving the fuel pump disconnected. Guess who received one of these early harnesses? Dr. Steve said that some of the pins were off one row. Anybody have easy access to their conversion harness to DME harness? Would you be willing to pry the back of the conversion harness 14-pin connector and note the pin placement and wiring color (may or may not be the same but doesn't hurt). You can email me directly via the email in my profile. Hope you guys can help me. I don't think I can wait another weekend, its been 6 months since I started this and I'm soooooo close. I had her cranking but no fuel. Help!!!! Here's her pic to tug at your heart strings (pardon the dust, I just finished adding a carrera flare) ![]() Rick

Here is a quick referance don't know if it will help, its tax season and time is a little tight.
wiring and some additional references I found in my files(no guarantees here) here are the pins: Number / color / usage T 14 3,2 ( 88 ) 1 yellow / starter Kl.50 2 red / source from alternator Kl.30 ( or B+ ) 3 green - black / Oiltemperature Instrument 4 green - red / Oiltpressure Instrument 5 red - green ( depends on year ) / from ign. ( Kl.15 ) to backup light switch 6 gray - brown / backup light switch to lights 7 free ( used with Turbo ) 8 brown - black / temperature switch for the fresh air blower 9 green - white / Oiltempressure idiot light 10 free ( used with Turbo ) 11 blue / alternator control light Kl.61 ( or D+ ) 12 free ( used with Turbo ) 13 black - yellow / power source for the fresh air blower 14 red / source from alternator 30 or B+ In the wire shematic this connector is named T15. On the body from the connectors are the little numbers stamped in if not the 1 is at the end with the code nose. On pre 77 cars are TWO 14 pin connectors, One to the rear for the engine and the other as a connector for the rear relay board. T 14 2,7 ( 73 ) lok at http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/911_electrical_diagrams.htm 1 yellow / starter Kl.50 2 green / only used with sportomatic runs behind the instrument for the overheat idiot light 3 green - black / Oiltemperature Instrument 4 green - red / Oiltpressure Instrument 5 green - yellow ( depends on year ) / from ign. to backuplightswitch 6 gray - black ( depends on year ) / backuplightswitch to lights 7 black/red / Coldstartenrichment temp switch 8 white/red / MFI stop selenoid 9 black - purple / to tach 10 11 blue / alternator control light Kl.61 ( or D+ ) 12 brown / to Regulator D- 13 black / to Regulator DF 14 red / source from alternator 30 or B+ brown - white / Sportomatic power source blue - yellow / Sportomatic shift lever contact yellow - black / Fresh air blower red - white / to MFI/CIS and fuelpumprelay Attention ! On the 3,2 Harness the pins changed. Now they have two Kl.30 wires You also have to relocate the connector forward as the engine wireloom is to short. You can make a interface as the connectors are still aviable or redesign the car sided wireloom.

Bill,
Thanks for the great info and appreciate the help in trying to get me started. It looks like the problem is with the 12-pin connector near the DME. Where did you get the pinouts for the 14-pin engine connector? Anyone have the pinouts for a 964 12-pin connector near the DME? Rick

A word of warning, the 14 pin connectors are somewhat fragile, I broke mine into several pieces last week when reinstalling the engine, All of the pin assignments were dutifully recorded on a pice of paper, which of course is nowhere to be found.
I really don't remember where the pin out info came from, probably from someone on Rennlist, Jim Williams comes to mind as we corresponded about our swaps way back when.
