Breather hose?
I was inspecting my engine before the install and noticed this hose was broken. What is it, what does it do and where can I get one?
I am getting the bently book for xmas but would prefer to order the part sooner so I can work on it over xmas break. Thanks. ![]()

And my guess is this part is impossible to replace once the engine is installed so I have to bite the bullet on this one, eh?

Is it brittle? It appears you could just re-fit it, No? move that diaphram so it will sit closer to the hose?

Was it like this one that is currently listed?

No, it isn't brittle at all. In fact, I was wondering about that as well. It looks like it doesn't really fit properly and this stress caused the hose to tear along the clamp. The hose is in surprisingly good shape otherwise. My guess is that it was replaced a short time ago (10 years). Really, it is only missing about 1/2 inch of hose.
![]() Here below, I put the top of the hose in correctly (90 degree aluminum tube and lined up the screw hole below. I cannot see how this is supposed to line up, unless the PO used some incorrect parts. I was considering putting a small S hose in between. If I try to force this, it'll just break again. Any thoughts? ![]()

There is a bolt thread directly behind the metal tubing of your additional air valve that the hose connects to in your last picture. That is part of a rubber isolator that supports the additional air valve bracket to the bottom of the airbox. If you put a nut and washer on it and tighten it up, it may align the hose and tube better.

Can you come down off that alu 90 at all? If not, buy some same dia. alu pipe, cut it and get it welded with a longer vertical section with enough offset to get you in the right position. Don't buy that hose for 160$....

Thanks for the pictures. Yes, I'll definitely try to get it to work without having to purchase it. Looking at timmy's last pic, it appears that my bracket might be a tad bent. Look at how much lower mine is to timmy's (keep in mind the slightly different perspective). Tonite, I am going to screw in the nut (by the red arrow) then bend the bracket up a bit and see if I can get a better line up. I will also see If I can get a little more distance down from the L tube as per jrolstin.
Thanks guys. ![]()

I look at the two engines and it seems to me that the regulator of "NeedSpace" is mounted lower than the one on the "timmy2" engine. Is it the right regulator and/or bracket?

Alright! It is all back together and looking pretty good. Thanks for all your help. Here are the new pics. The good news, once I straighted and repainted the parts, things fit together pretty well. Losing that 1/4 inch of pipe only made a small difference. I am not sure if this was a bad idea, but I rotated the aluminum elbow pipe which gave me a little more distance to work with to overcome the shorter hose. It now holds nice and tight and is all together. Also notice I repainted the fuel distributor due to comments

Looking good. Make sure your hoses are all sealing well. Any vacuum leaks will be a real pain to repair once your motor is in the car. (By February)
