Radio/speaker question

All,

I know there are a few threads on this but no real answer that I can find. I have an 87 Carrera and want to maintain the stock radio. The speakers are shot and I want to put new ones in but hide them behind the stock grille covers. . Forgive my elemntary questions here and hope you can help.

Can you put new speakers in and hook them up to the stock radio?

If so what brand do you recommend for the best performance? Do I need to install better wires? Any thing else?

Lastly, does anyone know where I can find the rear speaker grille covers?

Thanks!

to answer some of your questions,

You dont need to change the wire the existing ones are fine

In terms of speakers that fit behind the grill covers I do not know, I have alpine speakers, they came in the car when I bought it and they sound very nice. They do how ever have there own grill covers. Im sure you can get stuff that fits behind the grill if you look around. What you may want to do is pull the speakers you have, measure the mounts and what not then go from there.

I assume you are looking to keep the grill covers so that the car stays stock. In my opinion as long as you keep the old grills around so you can put them back on if need be, other grills are not a bad thing per say but i do understand the personal preference to keep it stock.

Regards
Dave
