SSi's modified for longer studs?? Is that an issue?

Hi all,

I am about to purchase a pair of SSI's which the owner says have been pulled off a 3.0 and were modified to accomodate larger than factory studs by making the mounting holes a bit bigger. He says it wont affect mounting and that a washer will make up the difference.

Is that true? Will it be ok for my '82 SC?

Thanks!

I would pass on that, they are a very exact fit. The collars fit into the boss on the heads on the 3.0l and that would be fine. But I bet you can find a pair that have not been modified.

they were probably reamed a tad....I can't see as it would be an issue really, not once torqued down properly. If they are a good deal I'd go for it, they looked nice on ebay

Lol!

Well. after some digging I found his email address to be tied to a scammer named Geoff on Pelican? Banned....kinda scary but he has 100% feedback on ebay!

How about that. Huh, would make me a bit standoffish. They looked good and about 1/2 price from new.
I've been very lucky with ebay so far, no issues with sellers. Good luck.
