Guidance Needed

I have a 1987 911. I have the top part of the engine off all of the way down to the engine shroud. While I am at this point do you guys recommend I change out any of the hoses. My car is running fine with no leaks. But as a preventive measure while the top of the engine is off, what hoses, if any, do you guys recommend I change out from a preventive maintenance standpoint.

Thanks for the assistance

squeeze them - and look/feel for any cracks, esp. the part under the hose clamps

also, shop vac out the crud under the shroud, which will be blocking air flow to the heads

Definitely change out the fuel lines.

two styles of fuel hose. one type looks like it's wrapped and one type is smooth hose. the smooth ones are usually full if mini cracks. look close with a flashlight.

good or get a better fire extinguisher, fuel lines don't cost much, the big hassle is doing the replacement with engine and intake system in without dropping

I have more if anyone needs extra convincing.

I also hear that most fire extinguishers are inadequate for an engine fire...

So, change the rubber fuel hoses, the rubber brake hoses, and carry a Halotron fire extinguisher as it can help.

+1 on the fuel lines.
What else are you planning to do while it's off?

I like the comment I read once where an extinguisher is to bash the guy who pulls over in the head before he tries to use his extinguisher on your fire. Let it burn and take the insurance check, then buy another instead of trying to repair a partially burned car.
