Transmission Wire Just Above Axle - Help?
I am dropping my motor and there is a thin wire connected to the transmission just above the axle on the passenger side of the transmission. It appears to have a strange connection. I have to assume I need to disconnect before I drop the motor and tranny. Any ideas on what it is and how to disconnect?
Thanks

on your 83sc, that is the magnetic pick up for the speed sensor. It just sits against the case kept on by a small clip. Use a 10mm socket to undo the clip and hang it off to the side.

Speedometer cable..........
Vance,
There is an electrical connector inside the tunnel located close to the transmission shift coupler. Trace the wires and you'll locate the connector sitting inside the tunnel. Label them if you like but it does matter which one go to either connector. They are reversible connections. HTH. Tony |

For fear of damage to the speedo impulse pick up, we just undid the quick disconnect inside the tunnel, near the coupler (under the coupler tunnel). Gotta go in there to disconnect the shift linkage anyway, so...
