I have read everyone's opinion about radar detectors and various things on that subject line. I am so sorry to ask a question that seems to have been beaten to death. BUT
I have stumbled across the following radar detector/jammer and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it? http://www.007radardetectors.com/phanton_info.htm http://www.007radardetectors.com/rmr_c302_info.htm I just want the most bang for the buck, Valentine and Escort seem to be the popular choices, and I may have to go that way if no one has experience with the above units.

Yes, like all other passive scramblers, they are junk. In fact, when Road and Track (or was it car and driver?) did a test on passive jammers, none worked, and some even made the cars MORE visible to radar.
Go with a good detector to start, V1 is the best. WHy? While others may be just as sensitive, V1 shows you WHERE the radar is... Useful to know if the cop is coming up from behind or waiting ahead... No substitute. If you want a jammer, you must get an active one. Active laser jammers are not illegal in most places, and since laser detectors only tell you that you've just ben busted, they are worth it. Active radar jammers ARE illegal, but obtainable...

Thank you so very much, I have heard rumors that the jammers are no more than boxes with lights. I appreciate the opinion very much!

I'm w/Chris on this one. I tried to buy the Lidatek Laser Echo but they stopped selling the model to upgrade to a newer version. Doesn't sound right, but that's all I know. The new model is suposed to be for sale on May 1..........I asked a friend last year to build me a radar jammer..He was a "project leader" at Grumman. He told me that without asking others his opnion is that a good system would cost big bucks and overload my electrical system. I have heard of using an aircraft radio to scramble radar hits, I know nothing about how it works, but supposedly you leave the radio transmission on full time.....RON

the passive jammer is junk. Just a box with lights in it.
I got a VRCD active jammer couple of years back. I will jam X & K bands. When it receive a signal, it will send back it own signal too. It sets off my V1 for a 30sec and shut down. I ripped it out after a year use because it became active all the time. I can't even send it back for repair because the company is OOB.
