O2 Sensor Questions
In process of dropping my motor and doing some upgrades and have Wayne's 101 Projects book. Tried to disconnect the O2 Sensor in the engine compartment and tried pulling on the rubber portion of it and cracked the inner plastic insulation. Still have not figure out where it disconnects? Where do you disconnect it? Have I ruined the sensor? (looks like it is still connected). I think I will try to disconnect it at the muffle/bypass pipe.
Do I need to replace if I am upgrading to SSI or can I run without the O2 sensor? Thanks!

It disconnects on the left side of the engine bay. Yes, the O2 sensor is needed.

Just glue the yellow plastic insulation back together with JB Weld or something equivalent. You can cut a longitudinal slit in the O2 sensor boot to ease removal, and hold it together with a plastic zip tie. The other connection is for the heater wires on a 3-wire O2 sensor.
