Intro and artwork

Hello!

I have made something of a 3D Porsche 911 configurator, and was wondering if anyone is interested in computer ‘renderings’ of their car or an imagined car. Imagined car being whatever, i.e. a pink 1989 Speedster with green Fuchs and RSR flares!

At the moment I have only completed the 1974-1995 body styles: coupe, classic and glass targa, cab, speedster, slant, etc.

The entire 3D model is made from scratch. Can be blown up and printed 25”x50” @ 200 ppi.

If anybody wants me to post an example of a Targa or Speedster say so, these pictures I attached were just ready to go size-wise.

Please reply if you are interested, I can make a post with more details.

Take care!

Nobody? :P . There would be a charge only because creating this model took a long time. I would say at least fifty hours. Digital files would be a lot cheaper than a print (no paper/ink etc.)

Just figured I'd throw it out there, but if no one's interested, I don't really mind!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Happy New Year, etc. to all!

That is very impressive.
Can you make a model of a 3.2 coupe?
I guess we can use pm to agree on a final image and payment method.
Thanks,

Do I get to choose the exact angle or you have some pre-defined angles to choose from?

Thanks

hcoles,
I attached a sample of a 3.2 Carrera. I don't know if you want a tail, fender pads, or other things. Can also change the color. I made it U.S. market. Please excuse the lack of the rubber and jack pad, I have those but this is just a quick sample I made. And note I opened the sunroof! (I can also do a sunroof delete).

Oracle,
You may choose any angle. Or specify one I already posted.

Can also add text and custom plates.

French,
So is not like I get a program/application in which I rotate/zoom then I save and send to you for rendering? Kind of like dodge.com, ford.com, etc in which you rotate to 360 the car..

Sorry if this is confusing, I'm just not sure how I can choose the best angle if I don't get to play with it..

Will you include the model (wireframe, raster and other files?) or just the finished product?

Thanks

Not at the moment. It would just be starting with something (i.e. drivers front 3/4 eye level), and going from there. If there is enough interest for the arbritary preview I may consider it.

Can include the model file but that would cost more.

On second thought I think I will just offer the finished product. Sorry.

For views I think I could do a lot of different views (same car, same lighting), choose one and go from there.

At this point I'm not promising an order, a few more comments.

I would want "normal" fenders, I have sunroof and would want closed. The color of my car is forest green metallic, I guess any angle that seems to work well with your model is fine maybe a rear corner and front corner combined.

I'm thinking that I could put a combined smallish picture up in my office. Wife will not go for this inside the house, garage art is another possibility.

Thanks and great modeling work. I was not able to get UG/NX to do this with the training I had. Did you mention the package you are using?

Pretty good SketchUp work... You downloading these from the 3D Warehouse or are you building them from scratch, or a combo?

Thanks! Nothing is downloaded. Everything is made ENTIRELY from scratch. Wheels, dash, lights, body, everything. Doing the roofline and front end likely took a good 25 hours. Likely add another 35 for massaging it, making different flares, bumpers, tails, dash, 964 bodywork, 993 bodywork, Targa, Speedster, etc. etc.

I like the exhaust, did you make it? Did you make the black (I presume meant to be the SC in signature) SC too?

I downloaded a Euro left drive 930 model from 3D Warehouse and then modified it from there. That's not the latest version.

Yes, I built the exhaust system in SketchUp which I had fabricated and installed a few weeks back.

One thing I noticed, you'll probably want to "smooth" edges on our models to make them, well, smooth.

I've made a number of cars from scratch using SketchUp, but didn't have time for the 911 so I dl'd it and will modify it when I have time.

Cheers,

- CraigD

I like the Sketchy Edges version. Looks cool.

Two later versions with custom exhaust mock up. You'll see the green lines are the only ones I haven't "hidden" or "smoothed".

Cheers,

- CraigD

I think I've seen that 930. Front isn't round enough, rear to short and smushed, proportions all wrong IMO.

I intern at an architecture firm doing renderings, great for the client to see in a live lighted model, as opposed to just single photo-realistic renderings which takes usually two weeks. Typically have a few cars in residential models, sometimes the client's personal car when possible . Put that 930 you downloaded in some and it didn't pass my standards. So I made one!

Thanks! I presume you mean the 964 RSR? That was actually taken on the normal setting, then reworked in Photoshop for the effect and then heavily reworked to get the silhouettes right.

It wasn't that one. I know which one you're talking about. My standards aren't too shabby either.
