Driving along in my '70 911T and I noticed my clutch was not engaging easily as I changed gears. I was driving in 3rd gear and trying to downshift to second. Pushed in the clutch barely got it into second proceed slowly to home. Thankfully I didn't need to stop, I heard a ringing noise as was driving from under the car as I drove. Got home, shut it off pressed the clutch and couldn't get it in to first, Pedal had some pressure but very little travel a couple inches or so...but it still had some spring. Clutch cable or TO bearing?? No slippage or chatter before this all happened. Any thoughts?

Porscheguy47, dismissing the noise heard I'd look at the pedal cluster first... then check the clutch cable's actuation of the throw out rod below the trans (photo below) including the integrity of the retainer that secures the clutch cable to the trans. If there's nothing wrong with these components... I'd be looking inside the bell housing preferably with a periscope through the spyhole.
The photo below is from an '80... not sure if this is same config for your '70.

I second the pedal cluster problems. It sounds just like what my clutch pedal did. Lift up your carpet and remove the floorboard around the pedals, get a flashlight and look through all the dirt and dust for the plastic bushings where the pedals hinge on the bracket at the bottom. Mine had finally disintegrated leaving the pedal flopping around and unable to pull on the clutch cable properly. Rebuild the entire pedal cluster with the brass bushings from our host.
