I currently have a 930 and an SC. Previously, I had a 79 930, 85 ROW Carrera cab and a 91 964 turbo. Out of all the cars, the 964 turbo was the easiest car to drive with good power on tap. However, it felt heavy and not as nimble as the SC or Carrera. It did have good ac and was rather comfy to take on dates.

Now, back to a 930 or an SC. I would say if you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic all the time, get an SC. Better yet, get a G50 Carrera. I love my 930, but when stuck in traffic it just drives me nuts as I just want to unleash the motor. To save your sanity in that kind of traffic, get another car. My Porsches just sit and I haven't filled up gas in either car since Halloween. I just drive my Lexus everyday, or my E55 when going out.

It is not happy until 15 to 20 minutes into the drive and once the oil gets warm it is ready to go. They are sad in traffic and uncomfortable in short stops and starts. They want the open road with wide turns with a few cars to pass. If you live in an area with lots of commuter traffic then owning a 930 is like having a Great Dane in a small apartment. It just doesn't work or if you force it to work you are both unhappy.

On the other hand, a Carrera, and I suspect an SC, work in both worlds. It can handle traffic, and enjoys small twisty roads. On the highway, a Carrera is fun, but not to the level a 930 is.

When I walk out the door, I pick the Carrera for short traffic trips and the 930 for those that will allow it to stretch its legs.

IMO: neither is "significantly better," just different.
"Great Dane in a small apartment" I think this is it exactly. If you have lots of open road you will love the 930. Around town or in the canyons choose the SC. It's the same story for a modern 997 Turbo.

Yes, indeed, especially with the aluminum clutch in a 3.0 Turbo.

I'm not a speed freak and I do 95% of the maintenance and repairs so I prefer the simplicity of an SC or a Carrera. But I love the wide fender look. So...this one, for me, became the best of both worlds.

There is a lot to be said for the "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast..." thing, particularly when you live in an area with overzealous, revenue-driven traffic enforcement!
