Hood replacement.....how difficult?
Having never replaced a hood before, is this best left to a professional body specialist? I'm thinking about a new, light weight, fiberglass replacement.

In my experience, going from one steel hood to another is not difficult. There are small adjustments that have to be made but it's not that hard. Having 2 people really helps, in fact it's almost mandatory.
However, going from steel to fiberglass is another story. It all depends on the quality of the glass. It's rare to have a glass hood fit right the first time. Plan on some time for fitting-you'll probably need it. Get opinions from others on the board who have used glass hoods with good results. |

If two people are doing the job, the difficulty level of replacing a steel front hood is 1 on a 1-10 scale. As has been pointed out, however, the difficulty comes in the fitting and sanding if you're going to a glass hood.
