How is it to build a high hp engine out of a 3.0 liter engine case?
Been think of a project and i wonder if the 3,0 l 911 engine case is something to build a high hp engine out of because i like the metal plate where the oil drain plug is located
Or do i have to go for a 3,2 or 3,6 engine case? Been thinking of a 935 project if you can get body parts that looks like the real deal and not a kit car. If the 935 looks like a kit car which i have the felling it might do i rather go for a RSR project |

All the turbos were built on the 3.0 case for the longest time, 78 through 83 then the Carrera case came into vogue in 84 but I m not sure that the 3.0 wasnt still the base for the case.
The 964 case is the base for all the late GTS and dual turbo cars. Considered the strongest aluminum case manufactured. Highlight, any will do. Bruce |

The 3.0 case (from the 3.0 Carrera/Turbo) is desirable as it uses the "old" rear main bearing webs and rear main seal. You can use the 66mm crank from early engines to build a short stroke (SS) 3.2

![]() You may need to do some preparation and modification work depending on what you do, but thats considered normal for these engines. High quality 935 bodywork is available if you have a realistic budget as such things are not inexpensive for the good stuff.

Banned but not out, yet..

Listen to Steve, he is an expert. I agree that a 3 liter is a platform that you can take to the unreal, with a nice turbo and internal mods to go with it.
