993 chain cover studs - thread locker or not

I am resealing my 993 engine while it is out for a trans rebuild. All but 2 studs from my chain housing covers came out upon removal of the nuts. On a 3.0 or 3.2 I'd put these back with thead locker (aka red locktite). Now on the 993 I am not so sure. Was the locker left off by the PO (a money shift rebuild by The Racers Group) on purpose?

Would installing the studs dry be a benefit when these covers need to be worked on with the engine int he car?

Please let me know what you think! (thread locker in hand ...)

George
