Please update me with battery ideas

I've read over these threads:

another battery install thread

Light weight battery question.

My '88 needs a battery.

Like many others, I had an Optima, but am intrigued with the idea of a light weight/lower cost solution.

Does anyone have any recent install/ideas/solutions that they can share?

Thanks!

Yup - get a lighter weight one. Move it to the smugglers box and cut down on alot of extra cable and weight in the process and clean up the trunk.

It is a pretty simple process - lots of lightweight options out there but the cheapest I found was the "Miata" battery which was specifically made for the WEVO battery box - fits great.

Check out Braille brand for more options, Braille B3121 under 22 lbs, but if you are not racing will the weight savings make up for a car that won't start some night? I decided on B7548 945 cold crank amps, 45 lbs, installs without an adapter, sealed no leak technology (like Optima), $235 free shipping ebay.

I'm still running a wheelchair battery.

From 2006 to 2009, I used a 19 lb one that cost $43. It lost its charge during an extended period of work on the car where it sat while fully discharged (my fault). For the last three years, I've used a slightly heavier one (25 lb). It's going stron, and cost me $61 -- although the price has now gone up to $69.

I've been running an Odyssey 925 for 3 years with no issues. I utilized the stock location (low cog) rather than the smuggler box. Mount is from Rennline.

Thanks for the replies and advice!

I'm thinking I'll stick with original battery location because my strut brace is in the way of the smuggler's box and I utilize a battery tendser.

Where to get a battery box for a smaller battery?

Do you really save that much from moving the battery a foot or two to the smugglers box?

no worthwhile wt. savings - the real issue is the change to the polar moment

The weight savings would be nice if you used a voltphreaks battery and mounted it in engine compartment. That would use a lot less cable plus savings of a 5 pound batter

You can see the reason for everyone going to the AGM batteries in the Photo above. All that corrosion due to leaking battery acid. It is absolutely necessary to clean that up and make sure it hasn't eaten up your suspension pan.
Also not a good idea to leave the pos terminal completely uncovered.
