Question Leather Shifter Boot Install

I've tried the search function with little help.

I just bought the leather shift boot from our sponsor. Did not come with any instructions.

Can someone walk me through the steps or refer me to a thread or youtube vid that shows the process?

I don't think I have the original shif knob.

Guess I should leave the old rubber boot on?

Thanks in advance

If you are patient you can twist and pull the shift knob off. Then just pull the rubber boot off and slide the leather one on. You need to tuck in (Roll) the top narrow part an inch or so if it isn't like that already, then push the knob back on.
Here's mine.

thanks

do I need to flip it inside out or anything first to maybe tie up the rolled-in top part?

How about the bottom part...how do you get it under the plastic floor? Screwdriver?

I just pushed it inside with my finger for the rolled up part, then fed it over the shifter shaft.
As I don't have a console, I'm not sure about the plastic floor part. It just fits over the shifter base on mine and stays in place as a friction fit.

last one i saw they turned inside out .. slide down shaft .. placed a tie about 3/4" "up" then flip the rest right side out and don then secure to the carpet or console ...

I reread that and I think it make sense ...

I took off the shift knob and removed the center console. Then I turned the leather boot inside out, and put the top opening over where the shift knob used to be, so the leather boot was upside down. Then I used a pipe cleaner about an inch in from the small end of the leather boot and wrapped it around tightly. Then I turned the leather boot rightside out and positioned it over the rubber boot.
reinstall console and shift knob, viola.
The center console was kind of a pain to reinstall, everything else was very easy.

Good to know you were able to do it.
I completely removed the cracked rubber boot and left it off, so it was easy.
Post a picture of the finished product.
