911-106-033-05 Hub Extension for Alternator
Per Porsche Bulletin an upgrade alternator should be installed when
replacing a bad alternator on my 1983sc. I can find the new alternator but can not find the hub extension 911-106-033-05 When I use the old hub extension i.e. fan hsng extension 911-106-033-01 and cut a notch in it for the new built in voltage regulator it still will not fit the back of the new alternator. What is this hub extension do? Do I really need it? WTB - 911-106-033-05 does anyone have this part? |

The hub extension directs cool air to cylinders 1 and 2..you require it.
The 83 . should have had a Paris-Rhone alternator with built in VR. Ordering the proper alternator, Verlo is the replacement name now should be a drop in fit unless you wound up with the Carrera 84 and later then nothing will fit. Bruce |

The bad alternator is a Marchal 71233002 70amp alternator with a HUCO 130216 external voltage regulator.
I ordered and received a Valeo W0133-1597770 75amp Alternator as an upgrade per Porsche Bulliten. The problem is the 70amp Hub Extension does not fit the new 75amp alternator even after cutting a notch in it as others here have advised. Now after cutting and cutting the original hub extension looks like it was shot with a shotgun as it has holes all over it. Is it usable like that? When ordering the Valeo 75amp it said per bulletin I needed to purchase a few items. One of the items needed was part: 911-106-033-05 Hub Extension now I see why. Sorry to say the upgrade hub extension is NLA. Any thoughts as to what to do? |

Thanks,
I called Auto Atlanta and it is NLA. They checked the part number 911-106-033-05 and said it is listed as discontinued or so they said. I guess I can't upgrade the alternator. I wonder how others are doing it. Thank you for your response! Last edited by cgh911sc; 03-08-2012 at 10:00 PM.. |

The Hub Extension in the link you provided looks like the 911-106-033-01.
Notice there is not a notch for the newer version alternator with an internal voltage regulator which is part number 911-106-033-05. I have seen a picture of the needed hub extension 911-106-033-05 somewhere but can't find one. |

Okay I figured out where I was at error.
Yes, the original Hub Extension will work on the new alternator. Yes, you just notch the hub to fit the new internal voltage regulator. What I was doing wrong was attempting to make the hub fit flush to the alternator prior to installing it into the housing. After installing the alternator into the housing it is clear that it would not be flush if installed outside the housing. My bad!!! Thank you for you input. It really helped motivate me to rethink the problem. Last edited by cgh911sc; 03-08-2012 at 11:36 PM.. |

Did you happen to take pictures of the modification to your existing hub extension? I have to replace the alternator on my car soon, and it will require this same upgrade that you just did.
Thanks! |

I have been taking work in progress pictures.
I will post them as soon as I complete the upgrade from a 70amp alternator to a 75amp alternator per Porsche Bulletin which of course requires notching the original hub extension. Also, I will post a list of the parts required and used to complete the upgrade. Last edited by cgh911sc; 03-08-2012 at 09:55 PM.. |

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in posting pictures. Yes I'm still in the process of upgrading my alternator. While in the process of replacing the alternator I decided to paint the hub extension, fan housing, and fan. I should be finished sometime this week and will post once completed. |
