3.6 Motor in ... Finally

It only took 10 minutes to bolt the motor in place. This was the best $100 I spent on this project. It also was easy to move and work on the motor. I bought this at costco.

Thumbs up Nice!

Congratulations! This would be a great time to list out the other mods done (to the engine, tranny, suspension and brakes) for that monster.

Maybe Wayne should start a "3.6L conversion" forum...

I am envious. I am planing this this summer after my next smog check. Is that the Harbor Freight ATV jack or what? I was looking at them and thought it would be a great purchase since I will be doing the conversation myself.

Yes the jack is the same as the harbor frieght one.

The motor is a 964 case, crank and rods. It has 993 top end. So basically I get the larger better bearings of the 964 and the better 993 top end. Injection and ignition are from a 1995 993.

I will be adding 3/4 inch RSR headers and Dual in/out muffler.

(not sure what muffler but maybe Ultramax)

Other than that I am just trying to get things in correctly and running. I have a warrentee on the motor as it is newly rebuilt.

I am doing everything. Dont kid your self this is a very intense effort. Almost everything I have touched has either been replaced modified or rebuilt. But hopefully is will be worth it.

This is because I am starting with a 1966 tub.

My car before I added fiberglass hood and bumpers wieghed 2100lbs. I expect to be closer to 2000lbs once everything is done.

Then paint next month. (If I find a job)

Is it still a SWB car? 1966 brakes and suspension?

Wait, wait,...wait

do not put the motor in your car before you paint.......

Also, that motor in a SWB will be a bit too "torquey" unless U put down some serious rubber, and upgrade to "hulk hogan" suspension. It will be tough keeping it planted w/o breaking the tyres on corner exiting.

Jeez...be careful...

Any provisions for air exiting behind that thing?

Can you tell me which cooler that is? P/N? Price? Vendor?

A new front cooler is next on my list - I already have the RSR front bumper. I wanted to get that all done before T-Hill on 6/26 - maybe I'll have new wheels before then, too

Could you post a picture of that cooler from the side? I want to do that to mine, with a 930S front valance. But I would like to see the brackets that you used, and if it allows for air flow through the cooler.
Thanks....and by the way......very(!) nice!!

I want to see if the cooler will work before modifying the front pan. As you can see there is about an inch space on 1/3 of the cooler. The cooler sits out as far as I could get it in the RSR bumper.

Great, thanks. That looks like it will flow a decent amount of air. I appreciate the picture.
