I went through many diff type of exhaust for my old BMW and ended up with borla. Now, I have borla again on my 911 by coincident. I love it's sound.

I think the benifits of ssi's on stock 3.2 cars has been well and truely put to bed on this board. Not going to give you any gains and not worth the $1100.

A pre-muffler to replace your cat and a sport muffler at the back may offer some gains though, although mostly just in the sound dept.

I just put on the above. Used M and K. I'm pleased. Nice noise, maybe some power gains, maybe placebo effect only.

A chip to take advantages of the changes is a nice use of money.

What are you looking to do? Replace the entire system or just add a little more noise?

Whatever you you do, budget for a new chip so you can maximize the potential of the new parts.

Subbed. My '84 has an M&K pre-muffler now, but still the stock muffler. I'd like a bit more sound, but not too loud. While I love the look of the dual out mufflers, I fear that they will all be too loud for my normal street use. So I'm thinking about the M&K or perhaps a Dansk Sport. Maybe even a Bursch.

the M&K 1 outs are very docile not too loud at all. Would not use a bursch no matter what but I am biased

Well, I'm not thrilled with the Bursch either, just from looks. Don't care for how visible it is below the valance. The M&K 1 out is at the top of my list right now. Although I might consider a Monty if they were easier to find here in the US.

does Rarly L8 have heat exchanger headers yet for the 3.2? that would be a great set up.
the SSI's are fine on my car, but I still feel like I'm leaving something on the table.

Not yet as far as I know.

As far as the headers go I really like the look and feel, no regrets whatsoever buying them.

RarlyL8 medium length headers are designed for modified engines (cams/carbs/compression) and would not give you a good bang for the buck on a stock engine.
For a stock Carrera SSI's have little gain over our cat bypass or pre-muffler when combined with one of our mufflers. You pick up a little torque in the midrange with SSI, but is it worth $1100 is up to you.
Heat exchangers are in final tweaks for the 1.5" headers (3.0L and below) with 1.625" to come next. No time table set as this is the busy season.

ok, going to hold out for the 1.625" option. already have SSI's and an M&K muffler.
